製造業に従事されていない場合、「かなり多く持っている」という状況は良いことだと思われるでしょう。

逆に、「少なすぎる」というのは悪いことでしょう。

顧客の需要を満たすために十分な在庫を持ちつつ、過剰在庫を最小限に抑えることの間で適切なバランスをとることは、効率的でキャッシュフローがプラスになる運営を行うために不可欠です。データの洞察と予測技術を活用することで、自動車メーカーが過剰在庫や在庫不足に陥りやすい状況を回避しながら、 効率的な運営を実現する方法を探ります。

 

## 販売パターンからわかること

この例では、ある企業の車両エンジンの在庫に関連するデータを調べました。エンジンを何台製造すればよいかを正確に判断するために、まずは当企業における車両エンジン販売の実際の需要を分析することから始めました。エンジンは製造コストがかなり高く、サイズも大きいため、「過剰」でも「過少」でもすぐに問題発生につながりかねません。

過去5年間の売上データを収集し、四半期ごとに分類しました。Minitabを使用して、2つの異なる方法でデータを視覚化することにしました。1つ目は、四半期ごとのの合計販売数で、2つ目は四半期ごとの平均販売数で、明確な季節差があるかどうかを確認します。グラフビルダーを使用して生成したグラフをご覧ください。

全体的な売上データでは、総売上数が明らかに上昇傾向にあり、前年比で需要が増加し、収益増加の機会の存在が示されています。

2番目のグラフは明確な季節的な需要パターンを示しており、エンジンの需要は第2四半期と第4四半期に大幅に高くなりました。需要は第1四半期に最も低くなる傾向がありました。この季節性は、今後数年間の計画を立てる上でとても大切なのです。

## 前年比の需要と季節性は予測可能か。

データを分析した後、経営陣は前年比と季節的な需要の両方を確実に予測したいと考え、これを実現するために、チームはMinitab統計ソフトウェアの「統計」メニューにある分解付き時系列を使用しました。

また、パーセント変動についての洞察も得られ、季節調整指数を分析も成功しました。時系列分析では、全体的な売上高は春と秋に季節的な急増を示し、明らかに上昇傾向にあることが示されました。このデータから3年先の売上を予測することができ、2026年第4四半期には1,645台のエンジンが販売されると推測されました。この情報により、積極的な準備が可能になり、今後数四半期および数年間にエンジンをどれだけ生産すべきかについて、データに基づいた考えを得ることができました。さらに、[MAPEが0.62](https://support.minitab.com/ja-jp/minitab/help-and-how-to/statistical-modeling/time-series/how-to/trend-analysis/interpret-the-results/all-statistics-and-graphs/#mape)であったため、チームはこの予測によって示された傾向が信頼できると確信できました。
