Dave joined Minitab in 2019 and is a Senior Analytics Consultant located in West Michigan. In this role, Dave’s goal is to ensure sound understanding of statistical fundamentals, data-based decision-making and the proper application of both to solve real-world problems using Minitab Statistical Software. Prior to joining Minitab, Dave worked for Yanfeng Automotive Interiors as a Senior Six Sigma Master Black Belt. In this role Dave trained, coached and led Product, Process and Quality Engineers as well as Leadership in both DMAIC and DFSS (Robust Engineering) methodologies, data analysis and problem-solving. Applications ranged the entire product life cycle: product ideation, product design, program launch, production and warranty. Dave also worked as a Continuous Improvement Manager, Six Sigma Black Belt and Master Black Belt and Quality Engineer at Johnson Controls from 2000 to 2015. In these roles Dave led and/or was part of a multitude of process improvement efforts in a wide variety of manufacturing industries: automotive interiors (assembly, thermoforming and injection molding), heavy fabrication of large tonnage chillers and compressors (machining, welding, assembly, testing) and automotive lithium-ion batteries (mixing, coating, calendaring, winding, assembly, formation and pack assembly). Dave earned a bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Michigan Technological University in 1994. He earned a Master of Science in Applied Statistics from Western Michigan University in 2008. Dave also was an ASQ Certified Quality Engineer, has Master Black Belt certifications in DMAIC and DFSS, practitioner certification in Kepner Tregoe® Problem Analysis and is a certified Shainin RedX® Apprentice.
