New Minitab Updates Unite Data Collection, Preparation, and Predictive Analytics

Written by Jen Roan | May 20, 2026 8:01:18 PM

Organizations face increasing pressure to make better decisions faster. Manufacturing, quality, and operations teams manage more data, process complexity, and competing priorities than ever. Whether improving quality, increasing throughput, reducing costs, optimizing production, or strengthening operational excellence, one constant challenge remains: decisions are rarely made in isolation.

A change that improves one outcome can affect another. Increasing throughput may impact quality. Reducing costs may introduce variability. Improving yield may require tradeoffs in efficiency, cost, or performance. While each outcome can often be analyzed alone, identifying the best path across multiple business and quality objectives is more difficult.

Our latest product updates are designed to help teams work more efficiently across the entire analytics workflow, from data collection to insight to action. In Minitab Statistical Software, the Predictive Analytics Module now includes expanded optimization capabilities that help users balance multiple outcomes with greater confidence. QC-Calc Data Collection 5.1 introduces QC Collect, enabling browser-based quality data entry in secure on-premises environments.

We are also enhancing Data Center, part of the Minitab Solution Center, with improved tools for merging datasets from multiple sources. Together, these updates simplify data collection, streamline data preparation, and strengthen predictive analytics workflows for better, more confident decision-making.

Make Better Decisions Across Competing Quality and Performance Outcomes

In many manufacturing and quality improvement environments, optimization is not about finding the best answer to a single question. It is about finding the best balance across multiple outcomes.

This gives teams a more powerful way to evaluate tradeoffs and identify the best combination of settings across quality, cost, yield, throughput, and performance. For example, a production team could evaluate how changing a process setting affects throughput and defect rates at the same time, helping them increase output without creating unacceptable quality risk.

By supporting advanced modeling techniques such as Random Forests, MARS, and TreeNet, Minitab helps teams move beyond trial and error to make more confident, defensible, data-driven decisions. Instead of analyzing each outcome separately and manually reconciling results, users can evaluate multiple responses together to better understand how factors influence overall process performance.

For organizations working in complex production, engineering, quality control, or operational environments, this matters. It means teams can make process optimization decisions faster, with greater clarity and confidence.

Simplify Manual Quality Data Collection While Maintaining Control

Reliable analysis depends on reliable data. Yet in many quality management, inspection, and manufacturing environments, manual data collection remains important, whether measurements are entered through a keyboard or captured directly from handheld gages. The challenge is making the process easier for users while maintaining the security, consistency, and control organizations need.

With QC-Calc Data Collection 5.1, we are introducing QC Collect, a new capability that enables browser-based data entry within an on-premises environment.

QC Collect offers teams the simplicity of a web interface while preserving control over data management, security, and compliance. It reduces the need for local installations, eases the burden on IT, and helps standardize how quality and inspection data is captured across operations.

This is especially valuable for organizations needing flexible, accessible data entry without leaving an on-premises deployment model. By making manual quality data collection easier and more consistent, QC Collect helps ensure accurate, timely data is available for statistical analysis, process monitoring, and continuous improvement when teams need it.

Bring Data Together for More Effective Statistical Analysis

As organizations collect data from more systems, sources, and workflows, preparing it for analysis has become increasingly challenging. Too often, teams spend time combining, cleaning, and organizing datasets before answering the questions that matter.

In this release, we made it easier to merge datasets from multiple sources, helping users spend less time preparing data and more time analyzing it.

These improvements support more complete models, more accurate insights, and better decision-making in workflows such as combining inspection results, process measurements, and production data before statistical analysis. When teams bring data together more efficiently, they see a more complete picture of their processes, identify relationships more clearly, and act with greater confidence.

For manufacturing, quality, and process improvement teams, better data preparation directly supports stronger analytics. It helps teams improve process performance, reduce variation, uncover root causes, and make decisions based on a more complete view of their operations.

Help Teams Move from Quality Insights to Action

Across these updates, a common theme emerges: reducing friction throughout the analytics journey.

Data collection, preparation, and analysis are deeply connected. When one part of the workflow is slow or inconsistent, it affects everything that follows. By improving how teams collect quality data, combine datasets, and optimize decisions across multiple outcomes, Minitab helps organizations work more effectively throughout the process.

This release reflects our continued commitment to practical, trusted analytics for quality improvement, process optimization, and operational excellence. We are focused on building solutions that help teams solve complex problems, make better decisions, and drive measurable improvement.

As always, customer feedback plays an important role in shaping how our solutions evolve. We are grateful for the partnership and insight of the organizations that rely on Minitab every day, and we look forward to continuing to deliver capabilities that help teams work faster, with greater confidence and efficiency.
